The Ohio Career Information System (OCIS) and the Individual Academic and Career Plan (IACP) are career search and planning tools for students of all ages. OCIS contains the latest national, Ohio, and local labor market data. Students can research careers and develop a plan to meet their career goals. Students will be introduced to OCIS and initiate an IACP at the middle school level. Throughout their high school education, each student will have opportunities to update and revise their online portfolio. Summer Career Camps 2011 Summer Career Camps will be held June 13-17, 2011 at Auburn Career Center for students entering grades 6-9 in Fall 2011. The summer career camps allow students to investigate future career options and to help them be better prepared for future decision making. In addition to students exploring careers, camp activities will teach 21st Century Skills such as collaboration and communication, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving while using state-of-the-art technology. Students will be able to braid hair and do nail art, help oil flow through a car engine, generate electricity, take each other’s blood pressure and experience dozens of other career field activities. Students will also participate in interest surveys, develop a career portfolio and research salary and college information prior to visiting the lab. After the lab visit, students will re-evaluate their career interests and have the opportunity to tour area companies.
