9/11 Memorial Year End Update 2010 : Page 23GROWING SUPPORT Local Businesses Everywhere Show Signs of Support 9/11 Memorial board members Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal helped launch a new fundraising initiative that encourages small and large businesses to show their support of the 9/11 Memorial by proudly displaying a special decal on their front doors or windows. The campaign was officially announced to the public in June, at De Niro’s restaurant Locanda Verde in Tribeca. The decal reminds us of how local businesses joined together after 9/11 in solidarity to help the downtown economy rebound and encourage the rebuilding of the area. Today, the business community can show they stand behind the ongoing construction of the Memorial by displaying a “sign of support.” Decals displayed will help raise awareness and funds to help the Memorial. To show gratitude for business donations, the businesses participating in the program are featured on the 9/11 Memorial’s website at national911memorial.org/sos and in the business supporters’ directory at the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site at 20 Vesey Street, where thousands of visitors are welcomed each day. 9/11 Memorial board member Robert De Niro, Mayor Bloomberg and Joe Daniels launch the Signs of Support program at Locanda Verde in June.
