9/11 Memorial Year End Update 2010 : Page 4MOMENTUM BUILDS ON MEMORIAL CONSTRUCTION Testing the Waterfalls An exciting milestone was reached in early November, when water began streaming 30 feet into the void of the North Memorial pool. For the first time, engineers successfully ran the massive systems that will circulate 26,000 gallons of water through each pool every minute. The South Memorial pool will be tested this coming spring. Together, the two pools will form the largest manmade waterfalls in the nation. The North pool fountains undergoing water tests in November.
