The website, Ohio Hospital Compare, allows consumers to compare the quality of care provided by Ohio hospitals to patients for certain services. In addition to performance measures, consumers are able to see charge and utilization data for the top sixty diagnoses and procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient services provided by each hospital. Performance measure data is collected from hospitals through an electronic data collection system twice a year by April 1st and October 1st. The data is collected at an aggregate level for each hospital. Hospitals or their vendors are responsible for collecting and calculating each measure. Charge and utilization data is collected annually by May 1st. Why were the selected measures chosen? Measurements shown pertain to conditions for which the HMAC determines to be the set of measures that should be displayed to Ohio consumers. The specific measures shown are those that, by broad consensus within the health care community, are considered reliable indicators of health care quality. H OW O FTEN I S T HE D ATA U PDATED?
